DETC's application procedure involves a simple
form that must be filled out by the applicant institution to start
the accreditation process. The DETC does not have a candidacy
status like a number of other accrediting bodies. In fact, DETC
counsels schools not to publicize the fact that they have applied
for DETC accreditation because it often misleads students to enroll
falsely based on the impression that the school will surely become
accredited. DETC's process of accreditation takes six months to
a year to complete. Please note that many institutions find that
they need additional time to develop appropriate policies and
procedures to meet the DETC's standards and to collect the data
necessary to document compliance with the published educational
and ethical business standards.
It is impossible for the DETC to predict the
outcome of any school's application for accreditation. The above
list is printed to solicit comments from the public regarding
applicant institutions.
If you have any comments concerning these institutions,
please contact Nan Bayster Ridgeway at nan@detc.org
or 202-234-5100 Ext. 103.
